NDDB is aggressively promoting Pashu Ayurveda based Ethno Veterinary Medicine (EVM) through various milk producer institutions across more than 10 states in the country.

According to world organization for animal health, about 60 per cent of the human infectious diseases are zoonotic and at least 75 per cent of emerging infections in human are of animal origin. NDDB Chairman Dilip Rath says “ the recent COVID-19 pandemic has turned out to be a global health crisis. In order to mitigate the risk to human health, controlling zoonotic diseases at animal sources of paramount importance.

Speaking at NDDB headquarter at Anand NDDB Chairman Dilip Rath said, antimicrobial resistance is becoming a silent pandemic both globally and in our country from indiscriminate use of antibiotics to treat animal diseases. We strongly believe that the solution to this serious problem lies in promoting alternative treatment strategies like Pashu Ayurveda based Ethno Veterinary Medicine (EVM) to treat a range of animal diseases like Mastitis, Brucellosis. EVM would reduce incidences of antimicrobial resistance.

Rath said the majority of farmers in our country find it difficult to find a veterinarian or bear the cost of treatment charges when their animals fall sick. EVM uses medicinal plants, herbs and traditional knowledge to treat a number of common animal alignments. Rath also advised all to gain insights from Vedas in use of Ayurvedha and revive our ancient traditions practised by our forefathers.
